The TABCO-R Committee is established to maintain connections between retired members and the Teachers Association of Baltimore County, and to provide retirees with a core organizing body for the purposes of:
- Updating and informing retirees about their benefits and other current issues that affect them;
- Affording retirees with opportunities to network with each other and TABCO active membership;
- Encouraging participation in supporting legislation and candidates favorable to public education and its current and retired members;
- Serving as a conduit for volunteerism that benefits students, educators, and the association;
- Acting as an advocate for responding to retirees’ concerns regarding rights and delayed compensation benefits guaranteed through their previous employment in BCPS.
TABCO-RETIRED IS THE ONLY RETIREE GROUP AFFILIATED WITH TABCO.
Membership dues: Local retiree dues are determined by the Board of Directors; all dues are collected through MSEA, State and national retiree dues are determined at the Association. Current annual dues are $75, which confers membership at the local, state, and national levels.
HOW DO I JOIN TABCO-RETIRED?
First, do not join MRSPA or BCRSPA when you receive their mailings. Although they may refer to their group as “ReTabco,” they have NO connection with TABCO. They are an AARP group.
Second, retired educators who have had TABCO membership for a period of at least five years during their employment are eligible to join TABCO-R upon their retirement.
